Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

Hey Brendan, Not quite yet. I had been practicing a lot but I fell ill in Asia with Tuberculosis and the financial strain plus health challenges put a damper on practicing for 3 months. I am better now and back on it - but not quite ready to share. I suppose that’s the ultimate answer on how the tun...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

To Illustrate EDs flexibility, I’ve attached a several images showing the different keys easily available with just normal bends for Pentatonic and Blues scales. One other note - When I started learning the Harmonica, I found the “Position System” to be extremely confusing to use for learning how to...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

Doesn’t make a difference to me. I’ve always enjoyed going off on tangents, even musically :D But I will reply back on the new thread regarding this... I just started a new thread where I talk about shifting tunings. I have been thinking about it since before this thread, and I use another quite dif...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

It’s an interesting idea, but I don’t like the idea of the note shifting with every different key of harp. I feel like I’d have to make that mental adjutment everytime I switch harps and remember things such as where my root notes are in each key which feels which like it would be more of a mental b...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

There is one thing that puzzles me though: Why don't you set them up to play diatonically in ALL keys? The G-harp and the A-harp overlap, in that both are capable of playing in keys G and D, while none of the three are capable of playing in keys B or Bb. If you would instead use, for instance, ED-t...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

I personally like the size of 10 holes and since ED tuning starts on the A below the C, and is slightly more than 3 octaves - I get enough of the low and high to meet my needs musically. Infact, 10 holes feels just about perfect for me. FYI, if anyone wants to try ED without messing with tuning, ama...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

Hey Brendan, Thanks for chiming in with the your expert advice. I owe a lot of my progress musically to your sharing of your creations. I think Winslow put it best when he said that he considers Richter a tuning that’s 3 octaves wide rather than 3 octaves. I do have a sense of loss, in that aspect, ...

PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

I used PowerBender exclusively for the past 2.5 years and it’s been fantastic. I also studied BP’s PowerBender book which was really helpful in learning the tuning. It’s worth the change from Richter.. so much better in my opinion. That said, I am now switching to the ED tuning full time (which is t...

Re: Seydel Will Wilde tuning out now

Well now I just discoveres the EDHarmonica tuning with which I am enamored. On paper it looks good. I think I might try and and see if I am to stick with Powerbender or go for the ED full time. The layout makes a lot of sense to my brain. I still like the PowerBender. Have been using it exclusively ...
