Re: "MAGIC HARPS" Specific Layouts?

Thank you, IaNerd. Do you have any experience playing any of the "Magic" harps' tunings? I saw Winslow's rambling descriptions of the ones he auctioned off. I had a real hard time following him and could only get one of the tunings written down. It would be nice to have the layouts of each of his fo...

"MAGIC HARPS" Specific Layouts?

I am trying to find the specific layouts and resulting chords within the various known "Magic" harps. I believe I have found one of maybe five known layouts for said harps, it being BLOW = EADGCEADGC ... DRAW = GCEADGCEAD. I found Winslow's beautiful "Soulagement" using said tuning in a recent post....

Re: "Zero to nine" tuning by Fernando Xavier

Thank you, Triona, for your thoughtful reply. Yes, I do understand it could be in any key. I am still not quite certain what the Lucky 13 layout would be; just the same layout continuing up to hole 13 from hole 10 ? Or, is it extended on the bottom and if so, what would be the notes as per the above...

Re: "Zero to nine" tuning by Fernando Xavier

Thank you for the speedy replies! While I can clearly see the advantage of this tuning using the Lucky 13, I know that that size may be difficult to handle if it's held with a mic as well. I assume that Seydel could make a 10-hole 0-9 harp for me. If that is the case, I also assume I should lay the ...

"Zero to nine" tuning by Fernando Xavier

I recently heard this tuning, "0-9", played by Diego Sales of Brasil. He plays really fast, straight ahead jazz licks on it. He posted a layout of the harp, a 10-hole diatonic, when I asked "WHAT was that ?!!!" I'm hoping that Brendan and others will chime in on this layout, maybe give some more ins...

Re: First position aeolian natural minor custom tuning.

You might be interested to read this article, it describes a lot of what you are shooting for here. Several cool alt-tunings are possible using the various reedplates from L.O. harps. For instance, use an E Melody Maker blowplate over an A major drawplate. Instant Paddy Richter. Enjoy the article, v...

Re: Idea for slideless chromatic harp

I like your idea here. I have approached the harp with an open mind re: alt-tunings and new inventions, it is a marvelous time for the harp, for sure. My only experiences with anything mechanical regarding harp have been limited to chromatics and the Dr. Henry T. Bahnson overblow invention, in F, Go...
