Re: Modal mixture slide harp

After doing some tests with two diatonic harmonicas (to simulate the slide harmonica), I did some final changes to my initial layout and I placed my order at Seydel. I'm looking forward to play with it. I'll post some videos once I receive it.

Re: Modal mixture slide harp

Thank you for the feedback. As for tuning harps, I have never tuned a slide harp yet. I will get a custom harp from Seydel instead. I'm very confident when tuning diatonic harps, but I really don't wanna break an expensive slide harp.

Modal mixture slide harp

I would like to customize a harp from a "Seydel Sampler" harp (thanks to Triona for the suggestion). It could give results similar to "Seydel All Minor". Here's the tuning chart:

Re: First position aeolian natural minor custom tuning.

Very interesting, however it seems that people at Suzuki are selling some other kind of tuning. Their C natural minor tuning has both G and G# on the same harp. It could be some kind of Dorian+Aeolian equivalent of Lydian+Ionian "Country Tuning".

Re: Lydian Tuning

Nice layout Trinoa. I would like to get a chromatic harmonica with some custom tuning some day.

EdwinW:
For Dorian tuning, I used a natural minor Lee Oskar and I lowered the pitch of the 2nd draw (-2 semitones).
Here's what it can do:

Re: Lydian Tuning

Hey, thanks! I will soon share some data about Phrygian, Mixolydian and Dorian tuning. I skipped Locrian.

Lydian Tuning

Hi, In my quest for modal harmonica tuning, I recently retuned a harp for lydian mode. It's quite similar to Melody Maker, but without the "paddy richter transformation" on blow 3. Instead, I lower draw 2 to -1 semitone. To sum things up: My tuning is double country tuning with draw 2 -1 semitone. (...

Re: First position aeolian natural minor custom tuning.

Here's a video of me playing a canadian folk song with that custom tuned harmonica. You can see than I can easily play minor on the highest octave as well.
