Re: OVERBLOWING - Where to From Here?
Thanks for your comments Andre and Winslow. I'm of the opinion overall harp design is a more fruitful avenue to explore than improving reed efficiency on the current type of harp.
Winslow, could you supply a better photo of the Discrete Comb than the one I found earlier in this thread?

Re: Alternative Major cross.
Nick, I'm still a bit puzzled with your English G/D Tuning: Blow G B D F#A c# e g c#e Draw A C#E G B d f#a b d BTW, I have a thread on how to input tunings so they come out with good registration on the main board. Here's how yours looks: ENGLISH G/D TUNING BLOW G B D F# A C# E G C# E HOLE 1 2 3 4 5...

Re: Alternative Major cross.
We're all about niche topics here, you're in the right place. A video is a good idea :-) And Tony's right, you should give the tuning your own name. Modal tunings designed for trad tune playing, like Paddy Richter or Major Cross, are good for probably 80-90% of the repertoire. But some of the most i...

Re: Stretch Harps
Sure, the Seydel is a very useful 12-hole harp option, but I'd argue not as much fun and satisfying as making your own Stretch Harp by hacking two together, and you can make any length you want

Re: sub-30 + overvalve plate + turboLiner?
The Tuboliner only fits Hohner harps, the Special 20 specifically. I have a LOT of respect for Jim Antaki and always applaud his inventions that I like. However the Turboliber, while theoretically a good idea to supposedly replace embossing, in practuce just doesn't deliver the microscopic-level clo...

Re: Controllable Note Bending on MIDI Harmonicas - What are the Options?
Nice! I'm sure it will work great. Assuming on-board mounting on the DM48, I'm trying to get the size down quite a bit. There is something to be said for a longer travel for fine pitch control, but when you're holding the harp at the same time its not so easy to free up a finger to move several cent...

Re: Stretch Harps
Nice work Roverharp. Yes, hiding that reedplate join was the main reason I used lipped combs. The key to sanding ABS is to keep the speed way down to avoid the melting you mention. Just do the sanding by hand, that will ensure it won't overheat. You can still use guides to make the cut at 90 degrees...

Re: Lucky 13 International Video Competition
I've been travelling and it's been a few days since I checked in here. It's really heart-warming to read the enthusiastic posts about the competitition and the Lucky 13, and interesting to hear how you did your videos. Wow, that iPhone must have a good selfie camera and mic Bill, because your footag...

Mention anything you like, this is an easygoing space for open discussion :-) Re. Availability of Paddy Richter Slide Diatonic and Irish Session harps... They are niche items, not widely used. We got them made to order by Hering in small batches, but experienced various problems (long delays in deli...
