Tony Eyers Trio with the new Seydel Skydiver Tremolo

The tremolo is the most commonly used harmonica in Asia. The Asian tremolos have a "dry" tuning, where reed pairs are tuned closely together, in contrast to their European cousins, which generally have a much "wetter" tuning. Tombo, the Japanese company responsible for the Lee Oskar model, are the l...

Re: Alternative Major cross.

A few things I would add. Sort through your own ideas, take suggestions from here, then settle on a tuning, whatever it is. It may be the one you've already got. Then get the best harmonicas you can in your chosen tuning. For example, top end Seydel models, which the factory will build to whichever ...

Re: Stretch Harps

Keep in mind the Seydel 12 hole model, at http://www.seydel1847.de/epages/Seydel1 ... ts/11601LC

You can specify virtually any tuning, if it's feasible they'll make it for you.

Re: Alternative Major cross.

I can see the logic here. At the end of the day, if it works for you, then go with it. Doesn't matter what it's called. A couple of comments. 1) the layout for the D Major Cross is different than for the G. I know that you would end up using the same patterns with both, but if the notes are in the s...

Re: Anyone Playing the Turboslide?

Looks like a cool idea. I made a set of Major Cross Gazell method half valved harmonicas so that i could try some jazz tunes. While the harmonicas are made, I haven't gotten around to playing them yet. They're on my "to do" list, along with a bunch of other things. The Turbo slide seems to do the sa...

Re: New Album with Tim Edey

You're very lucky to have someone like Tim around. I love the button box, but there aren't many local players. So, I trained up my own. See http://accordionaires.com for details.

Re: "OVERBLOWING - Where to From Here?" - a Thought Experiment.

I guess a key factor here is inertia. Once a player has learnt a given set of tricks, even difficult ones like overblows, they're generally reluctant to start again with something new. I'm guilty of that. I've long had a notion to play some jazz tunes, without flubbing/stepping over notes missing fr...
