DVD "Live & Unlimited"

I just got me your awsome CD "WRIGGLE and WRITHE". I enjoy it very much, especially the first title ("Celtic Thunder / Kent to Kinsale") and "Baltic Crossing". I started to play the accordion voice of the latter with a Slide Diatonic, and even better with a Seydel Sampl...

That looks like they are chrome plated or with any other silver shiny blank sheet metal surface. Isn't it?

Re: Middle C on Lucky 13 Solo?

That would give a complete layout chart like this: https://up.picr.de/39255264dc.jpg For comparison I added a chart of the Seydel Solist Pro 12 Steel with its Standard Solo layout as well. The Lucky13 with its "Orchestra" tuning has 4 notes more on the low end. The Seydel has 2 notes more ...

Re: Middle C on Lucky 13 Solo?

Here is an alternative design of the layout chart of the Lucky 13 with Solo / Orchestra tuning in the key of C as currently produced, indicating the octaves and clarifying the confusing numbers of the holes (as counted / nominal): https://up.picr.de/39248713uc.jpg One follow-up question: Am I right ...

Re: An Idea in Need of an Application - Suggestions?

However, I wonder if we're talking at cross purposes? You talk about dual-function reeds as if the reeds themselves can be played as blow or draw. I guess you imagine reeds with zero offset, such as are used in the Bawu and other Chinese flute-type instruments. If that's the case, you have misunder...

Re: An Idea in Need of an Application - Suggestions?

I see, it seems to be important to know more details about the function and construction of these "double action" reeds. If you don't want to discuss this here in public yet, maybe you could post it to the interested users by personal message or email. At least I would prefer to discuss th...

Brendan wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2020 10:26 am Thanks Triona. If you think of something, post a scale layout do we can understand your meanibg. The Modular Reed harp is on pause for this year.
But do you still have some more reeds on stock for further tests?

To specify those ideas take sa little time.

Re: An Idea in Need of an Application - Suggestions?

This intriguing idea is quite triggering my fantasy. :D Here my first thoughts roughly sketched, subject to further investigation: 1. I shall think about the possibility to use this idea to design a more compact bordune (i.e. drone) harmonica. Especially if there might be a use for playing drone cho...

Re: Double Paddy Wilde Rock Lucky 13!

Thanks.
For experimentation with quite similar tuning variations like this, your modular harp would be an ideal instrument. Do you intend to keep on the idea? I would like this very much. I had been thinking about suggestions for some improvements as well.

Re: Notes from the Workshop

One more interesting idea from long ago by Cham-Ber Huang:

It seems to be related with this to some degree. I did not yet understand the construction fully. But at least the slide seems to be on the back of the harmonica as well.
