Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

@ Crawforde: On bidirectional SlipSliders for regular-breath tuned harps: I made a test Easttop PowerBender SlipSlider with uniform comb tines and the ability for a right and left shift of the drawplate. The right shift is short (3.75mm) but the left shift is long (7.5mm), allowing the draw reeds to...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

I've made a few Seydel SlipSliders now and they play much the same as stock Seydel 1847 harps out of the box. If you like the standard 1847 without embossing, then the SlipSlider version will be similar. Seydel harps have a big following and some good points that make them attractive in the SlipSlid...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

A bit simpler in construction/assembly, because no rocker-arm reed dampener is required for PowerBender and PowerDraw tuned SlipSlider harps. Otherwise they are use the same number of parts. Their combs look a bit different because they have a regular pattern in the tines; Richter and similar harps ...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

Bit of a delay with releasing the other brand SlipSliders, had a gig in London that took quite a bit of time in rehearsals and travel etc. Note to self: don't make promises on release dates, life tends to get in the way. But we'll get there in time...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

Good point - no, we'll have to make a longer jig for the Seydel SlipSlider.

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

For harmonica customisers and players who like to work on their own harps, here's a video showing the 'from scratch' raw parts SlipSlider option: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a81R3p1DXs&t=10s It goes with a second video showing how to assemble the finished parts to the harp. It plus pics of the ...

Yes, I'm in SlipSlider zone at present! Hope to get all the variations and different brands/models out this week, then I can move on to other designs/ideas.

Re: Turkish Tunes

Some friends in Istanbul played me a couple of YouTube videos by an older Turkish chromatic harmonica player, whose name escapes me. Will come back to you when I can track him down.

He played reversed slide style I think, like many Indian chrom players.

Re: Unibender

I ordered some mini duckbill valves to give them a go. Haven't tried them in situ but my feeling is that their opening pressure is too high.
