Re: EDharmonica, by Seydel

This is a copy of a post on Modern Blues Harmonica: -------------- Just for the record, there is nothing 'new' about the ED Harmonica tuning. It's simply the bottom end of Paddy Richter or Melody Maker repeated up the harp - except they start the scale on the A instead of the C. The website says 'Pa...

Re: urgently searched sparepart

No need to do all that, just use a Hering 5140 slide. And as CrawfordE noted, you could try a slide from one if the Hohner or Koch 10 hole chroms. In fact, just swap in their entire mouthpiece/slider assembly.

Re: THE ENTERTAINER - Played on Lucky 13 in PowerChromatic Tuning

I agree! I think harmonica players should adopt it as the preferred notation for our instrument, which comes in all 12 keys. Far more logical and easy to use than standard notes. I wish I'd known about it a long time ago when I lived in London and was doing regular sessions. I made my own cod versio...

Re: urgently searched sparepart

Very sorry for my slow reply to this Triona, but it's good news: the two harps have exactly the same construction. So parts will swap perfectly between them.

Re: My modular chord harmonica

I understand about the aim of getting adjacent notes in fifths, but how does it look in terms of hole numbers and blow and draw notes on the Big Six?

Re: My modular chord harmonica

Nice one, Alan! I like the simple design and use of magnets for quick changes - they are wonderful things :-) With a design like that I assume you must have printed with supports?

BTW can you remind us of your BE GooD tuning?

Re: Melody Maker vs Paddy Richter

I'm developing a new valve; have some in my own harps, road testing them to see how they stand up over time. I'm off to India for most of October. Assuming all is well they will be out late Oct/early Nov.

Re: Melody Maker vs Paddy Richter

Solo is excellent for Irish music. I suggest 3/4 valving: all valves on the inside, plus outside valves on the even-numbered holes: 2,4,6,8,10. Paddy Richter is best half-valved Personally I use a mix of Solo and Paddy Richter: PR in the bottom octave and Solo higher up, Paddy Solo. It has some good...

Re: NEW HARPS: Lucky 13 in Solo and PowerChromatic Tunings

Thanks for making the video, Ed - good to hear you getting around chromatically on that thing :-) Re. requests for an Ab PowerChromatic: for now the official versions are just D and G until we see how demand develops. However, for those who want them, the regular harps can be easily retuned to other...
