Re: Lucky 13 Power Chromatic key of D

@Marlaz You said: "Now I’m asking for and open to any advice on how best to learn how to get the full benefit and possibilities from this Lucky 13." Do you mean setup, as in reed work? Or play styles? As to setup, I believe there is some web/youtube guidance on that. If I were to do any work on mine...

Re: Lucky 13 Power Chromatic key of D

@Marlarz Gnarly started a thread on the PowerChromatic that has a lot of good info. Brendan has given a lot of input on this tuning in that thread. I think you will find that you will pick it up quite fast, given the regular breath pattern. The mixolydian and dorian modes were the ones I got comfort...

Re: Lucky 13 Power Chromatic key of D

Another question: how does the PowerBender compliment the PowerChromatic? I can see that because of my musical interests one harp will never be enough! ... Ken Ken, The PowerBender (PB) middle octave in any will be the same as the PowerChromatic (PC) repeating octave in that same key, just as a Sta...

EdvinW wrote: "Not necessarily. Depending on how you feel about bending and what you want in terms of chords, the one in G might be better" I just wanted to add that if you are on the fence on focusing on this matter, and you tongue block and play splits, etc, I would lean toward the G. The chords t...

Re: Lucky 13 - Best harp I've played!

I am still impressed with mine after quite a bit of playing time on my PowerChro G, D and C (retuned). I will be looking to get Gnarly to tune one down to A for me soon. I would get a full set of keys, if they were available.

Re: PowerChromatic realization

Hi Brendan, I missed a very obvious perk of your PowerChromatic tuning. As a richter addict I didn't like the fact that the G was a blow note. I rebuilt some Seydel plates in your PowerChromatic configuration and realized that the G is also a draw note slide-in! My 2nd realization is that the C can...

Re: New PowerBender and PowerDraw Harps

I'm looking to get a Lucky 13 as I prefer Low register for many songs. Thinking that either PowerBender or PowerDraw tuning would be useful - which would be best for Blues/Rock? I think much of this would depend on your style: If you want to keep the 2/5 holes as a draw spilt and the pattern 4-7 ho...

Re: THE ENTERTAINER - Played on Lucky 13 in PowerChromatic Tuning

This instructional video is a very good start for learning how to play it. I recommend it for anyone that is trying to learn this tuning. Since I have bought it, my weekends have been a bit hijacked, due to the new cycle, but I am turning back to it this weekend. He breaks it down piece by piece in ...

Re: THE ENTERTAINER - Played on Lucky 13 in PowerChromatic Tuning

Just after I tuned my G to C!
I just ordered another G to replace it, and I will be downloading the packet later to start working on the song. Looks like a great lesson.

Re: powerbender A-Dur

It is not a difficult switch. I would definitely recommend pulling the trigger on it. The natural breath pattern to the upper octave will feel familiar, so you may find yourself playing holes 6 - 10 quite a bit more than you usually do, especially if you are playing multiple positions. The only thin...
