Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings
The August 02 tuning (above) becomes the August 28 tuning (below) by making the following modifications: 1. Delete the notes in chamber 6. 2. Move the the notes that had been in chambers 7-10 leftward by one space. 3. Fill the vacated chamber 10 with a C blow and a D draw. Why this tuning matters: A...

"Regular-breath" Overblow Booster?
Brendan: You mentioned at one point that you had designed an OB for regular-breath tunings like PowerBender, PowerDraw etc. (i.e. a single insert for the blow reedplate). Will you make these available for purchase? If so, for which brands/models of harps?

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings
On the tuning posted July 20 (above), I'm now rethinking the 5 draw. Since a dominant 7th chord typically resolves to the the I chord , it doesn't seem so important to have a dom7 variant of the I chord. If that 5 draw is raised one semitone, then the V chord gets extended leftward by one more hole....

Re: Spreadsheet for calculating chord frequencies *REVISED*
UPDATE: In addition to harmonica, this spreadsheet has also been useful in the tuning of certain guitars. A friend of mine is a life-long musician and music educator. We used this spreadsheet to re-tune three instruments: (1) his 6-string lap slide guitar (from standard ET C6 to 4:5:6:7 ratios), an...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings
In the March 5 post (above) I pointed out how a Country-tuned Seydel Big Six is a potent little chugger (with I--IV--V chords) and a capable melodic/solo instrument in 2nd position. Now imagine (because such is not yet available) an Overblow Booster on this harp. Note the welcome addition of two Eb ...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings
The tunings posted on March 28 (above) and July 20 (above) are very similar. Here are two important differences: (1) The July 20 tuning is (theoretically) compatible with the "blow-row-only" model of Brendan's Overblower Booster--the one he designed for "regular-breath" tunings such as PowerDraw and...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings
See that tuning, posted March 28, above? Intrigued by Brendan's new Overblow Booster technology, I asked him if that tuning could work with a specially-prepared Booster. He said that it probably could, but then there would be an additional charge for developing a special product. He further suggeste...

Re: The OVERBLOW BOOSTER - Overblows Made Easy, New OB Effects
Brendan: Thanks for the reply. In your post, you addressed "normal bends" only. That's fine, because I failed to specify that I meant "bends" in the broad sense, i.e. including overbends. As a school teacher I would routinely ask students to rephrase concepts in their own words, as a check for under...
