Re: Double stack Reed plates

@dodtsair: THIS IS SUPER COOL! :D :D Thank you for suggesting this! I've experimented further and to answer your questions: Will the reeds will still play? Yes. Will they respond differently than in the normal configuration? YES!! (though a little different than normal) Before going into details, le...

Re: Double stack Reed plates

It is certainly possible, but I don't know if it has any advantages over the normal configuration. I've tried this but only in passing and never very seriously, just to verify that I get a sound. I have heard a rattling which I suspect is caused by bad alignment, but It could be due to the reeds act...

Re: Half valved chromatic for retuning or maybe in custom tuning. Which model to buy?

... low D ... There are a few low C chromatics on the market, but having to raise so many notes by a full fourth I went with the comfortable option this time. ? ? ? from low C to low D a full forth? For me it seems more to be 2 semitones. Or did I miss here something? Sorry for the confusion! I wro...

Re: Half valved chromatic for retuning or maybe in custom tuning. Which model to buy?

Thanks for the advice! In the end I ordered a custom Seydel de Lux after all. Realizing that a D chromatic is actually rather shrill, and that I would rather had started with a low D, there were not so many options. There are a few low C chromatics on the market, but having to raise so many notes by...

Re: New PowerChromatic Video with Notes & TAB

Nice! In addition to being a cool tune in itself, it highlights the chromatic qualities of the Power Chromatic tuning: One couldn't really do this on a Richter tuned instrument! (except possibly with really solid overblowing skills..) Could this by any chance have anything to do with the name of the...

Half valved chromatic for retuning or maybe in custom tuning. Which model to buy?

I've been experimenting with some new tunings on my DM48 lately, and I think it's time to try my ideas in a real harmonica. One of the main advantages of a real, reed-equipped instrument is that it allows for bends, and I would thus prefer a model suitable for half valving. I'm thinking about retuni...

Brendan Power attends Swedish Harp Meet in September

Since we are a few Swedes here I thought I'd share the program for this year's Harp Meet where Brendan is scheduled to lead in total three two hour workshops: http://harpmeet.se/evenemang/harpmeet-2019.html Joel Andersson and Filip Jers also figure in the program. Previous years the event have been ...

Re: Left hand harmonicas?

I just realised we might be making this more complicated than it needs to be. We use the terms 'right handed' and 'left handed' to refer to people with different dominant hands, but when applied to instruments and other tools the terms usually refer to the hand that the instrument is intended to be ...

Re: Left hand harmonicas?

I do believe the hand you choose to hold the harmonica makes a difference. I do not believe some ways are wrong and others are right. 1. Concerning the holding of a harmonica and cupping, hand wahwah and similar hand technics it is fully irrelevant, if one is using the right hand or left hand, respe...
