Re: The OVERBLOW BOOSTER - Overblows Made Easy, New OB Effects

Brendan-- Congrats on the OB Booster! I have a set of questions. They all start with: "What are the implications (if any) for bending when ..." A. ... the blow reed is four semitones higher than that channel's draw reed? B. ... the blow reed is three semitones higher than that channel's draw reed? C...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings

EdvinW: That is a clever and intriguing idea. I like how, in your modification, it is still possible to in-out chug the I and IV chords on the 2-3-4 channels. "Thank the blues gods that Brendan exists, a world-class harmonica player who doesn't overblow. Otherwise, I'd probably quit."

Saws for cutting reed plates?

I have used various hand and power tools for cutting reed plates, but not with good safety or precision. I just noticed a (new?) class of tools called "miniature benchtop cut-off/miter saws". They cost around $50 USD. Have any of you used these tools generally,or specifically for cutting reed plates?

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings

These next two would be more difficult re-tuning projects, but I post them here because they are in other respects similar to the tuning above:

Re: PowerBender versus PowerDraw

PowerDraw is a departure from standard Richter tuning. It "corrects" what can be viewed as problems or limitations of Richter, ultimately to make various forms of expression easier and/or feasible. PowerBender takes that concept further still, and is even less similar to Richter.

Re: PowerBender versus PowerDraw

Most 88-key pianos start with the lowest key/tone designated as A0. The first C is C1, the next C is C2, and so on. A "regular-C" harmonica starts with a C4 note, also known as "middle C". But variations such as "low C" (starting at C3) and "high C" (starting at C5) can be purchased. In my diagrams,...
