Re: Modal mixture slide harp

This is an interesting idea. I've thought about a similar mode changing slide myself, but not in the context of modal Richter tunings: https://www.brendan-power.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=275#p1707 In the language of your post, instead of switching between major and minor in the same key the firs...

Re: Introducing the GASKET-VALVE System

Good news bad news on the Gasket-Valves, it seems! Glad you like yours Edvin, but sorry to hear you're having issues Lizzy. What do you mean by the valves sounding? I'm overall happy with my purchase, and I hope to buy more after some more experimenting with how to best make use of them and how to ...

Re: Introducing the GASKET-VALVE System

I received my gasket valves earlier this week, but late nights at work, moving in a new room mate and travelling have kept me from trying them until just now. My first reaction after putting them in was WOW! Such volume! I suppose this is what an airtight harp feels like! The valved bends work reall...

Re: First position aeolian natural minor custom tuning.

Very interesting, however it seems that people at Suzuki are selling some other kind of tuning. Their C natural minor tuning has both G and G# on the same harp. It could be some kind of Dorian+Aeolian equivalent of Lydian+Ionian "Country Tuning". Their natural minor (CNm) is just the tuning you des...

Harmonica under water(?) :)

A friend and colleague asked this morning during breakfast: Does a harmonica work under water, and if not what does it take for it do so? The question came from a Facebook group, where nobody apparently had an answer. What complicates the question considerably is that water has very different acoust...

Re: PowerChromatic realization

David: yes, I was talking about a PowerChromatic in G, starting on A blow: AB. CD. EF#. GA. etc That's an interesting grading system Edvin. What are your criteria for 'good' and 'very good'? I'm assuming you mean something like 'ease of playing' or 'flow'. Here's a video of a PowerChromatic in G go...

We will add the gaskets into your order for you.

Thanks for finding the issue with that particular combination - now fixed.
Thank you! :D

Re: Introducing the GASKET-VALVE System

It seems to work if I exclude the blow plate gasket for the Session Steel. I've gone through most of the models, and for those I've tried a through-out regular breathing pattern is not compatible with a blow plate gasket. Don't worry, I understand side effects are hard to avoid during maintenance :)...

Re: PowerChromatic realization

Is this G? (A/B C/D E/F# G/A A/B) That's how is labeled on Seydel's website. What other keys do you use or do you play everything on one harmonica? While waiting for a response from Brendan, here are my 2 cents on the topic. What I like to do when faced with these kinds of questions is to: 1. Grade...

Re: Introducing the GASKET-VALVE System

I have been trying to buy these for a few days now, but it's proven difficult! Now that the store seems to be working again, and the text on the page seems to have caught up with the price adjustment for larger orders, I face another difficulty: There are no gasket-valves with regular breathing patt...
