Chromatic with Offset Tonics Double Lead Tone (COT-DLT)

In this earlier discussion https://www.brendan-power.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=829&sid=20321f3b7f8928c49795f0ca7a26a88b#p3642 I introduced Double Lead Tone (DLT) in association with a Spiral tuning. Then here https://www.brendan-power.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=874#p3904 I introduced what app...

Re: Exploring a "Spiral-Chromatic" concept. Is this new?

I will point out--before anyone else does--that all of the tunings in the posts above lack some of the enharmonics that we would have in more typical chromatic tunings. And that these enharmonics can be useful. True. I acknowledge this as a fair point.

Re: Exploring a "Spiral-Chromatic" concept. Is this new?

Below we have the same as the two tunings in the post just above, except shifted to the right by one hole in order to get at least one full octave of easy blow-draw play in all church modes--in holes 1 through 7. In holes 4 through 12 we have the repeating breath pattern for two full octaves--afford...

Re: Exploring a "Spiral-Chromatic" concept. Is this new?

Here https://www.brendan-power.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=829&sid=18df62d8221d69a2aa76ac2896de92cb#p3642 I explored the combination of Spiral tuning with something that I termed “Double Lead Tone” or DLT. In DLT, there is a periodic “resetting” of the blow/draw pattern which occurs by repeating t...

Re: Exploring a "Spiral-Chromatic" concept. Is this new?

Seydel 's Configurator can handle Spiral (they say Circular) tunings with low ends as low as C3 (130.81 Hz). By the way, my inner scientist/mathematician would say that in context of harmonica tunings, Spiral is not an appropriate term. In my opinion, Circular is a better term and Helical is perhap...

Re: Exploring a "Spiral-Chromatic" concept. Is this new?

So why might these tunings matter? Or, to put it a better way, to whom might these tunings matter? I confess – as I did in another discussion – that I am a “living room” or “front porch” player. I can count my lifetime stage events on two hands. So for me the key in which I play a song is usually ir...

Strategically Draw-Bending Slide Richter

I was thinking about Brendan Power ’s discussion on Extra-Deep Bend s (in some cases, Half-Flat Slide ), found here: https://www.brendan-power.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=863#p3845 Then I thought about the draw-bends that standard Richter tuning has which are well suited to the blues - namely hole...
