Brendan Power attends Swedish Harp Meet in September

Since we are a few Swedes here I thought I'd share the program for this year's Harp Meet where Brendan is scheduled to lead in total three two hour workshops: http://harpmeet.se/evenemang/harpmeet-2019.html

Joel Andersson and Filip Jers also figure in the program. Previous years the event have been rather blues-centric, but this year they widen the scope to better include folk music as well.

Unfortunately for non-Swedish speakers most of the event seems to be held in Swedish. There are a mere 40 tickets in total for this event, so hurry if you want to participate!

Hi Edvin,

The 1300 SEK ticket includes both the concerts and the workshops! It does not include meals or accommodation, and there are some prices for hotel rooms listed further down on the page. As this has previously mainly been about the blues, I don't know how many non-blues players to expect. I've never attended before, so any more information than is on the homepage is just guessing from my side. One guess I'm pretty confident about is that most of the event will take place in Swedish, since all information and all the others mentioned in the program are Swedes. On the Friday workshops with Brendan a Swedish guy called Erland Westerström is also listed, and I don't know how they intend to divide the time between them.

It would be nice to finally meet :)

thanks.

workshop with brendan an filip jers is fine.
2 workshops in swedish and english parallel? Maybe one for those who cannot swedish, the other for those who cannot english? I don`t mind, can both. :D
And I don't need accomodation or expensive meals. I always sleep in my car and I don't like most of the sood available anyway. I hope ticket is bookable with out all this.

Maybe we will see in September?
I have a time slot free. And I must check the cost of transport. But I am working in the very north of Germany at this time about, so the distance is merely half.

Jag skulle vilja boka biletten. Men där krävs antingen kreditkort eller swish app. Jag har varken eller. Tycks vara inte möjligt att boka för mig.
Är för synt.

Thanks for posting Edvin. So you're fluent in Swedish Triona? Impressive :-)

Looking forward to the Festival. I was invited by my friend Joel Andersson, always good to catch up with him. Hope to see you both there:)

Hurrah!

With a credit card borroughed from a friend of mine I managed to buy a ticket. :D
I am very keen on those workshops. In Germany it is almost impossible to find workshops taylored for harmonica in folkmusic. I hope there will not be too many contental and temporal overlaps so I can paticipate on all workshops I am interested in especially.

And especially I am looking forward to the workshops with Brendan. I hope I can get some practical informations how to play my Asiabend as well.

And the possibility of taking part in some folksession will be another highlight I am looking forward to with joy. :D

dear greetings

Hi folks (in northern Germany, Denmark (Jyland) and southern Sweden),

I can give a hike for 1 person from Sörup (near Flensborg, DE)
via Flensborg (DE) / Padborg (DK) - Kolding - Århus - Grenå (alla DK) - Varberg - Borås - Jönköping (for possible intermediate approach)
to Norrköping.

out 10th of September 2019,
return 16th of September 2019,
participation on fuel cost appreciated but not condition,
costs for ferry ticket (as foot passenger or additional car passenger) by yourself,
sleeping in the car would be possible, but very very narrow (accommodation is actually provided for 1 person = me, driver change when licence existent were to prefer),
luggage and musical instruments no problem, as long as it is not a concert grand or a big pedal harp  (it is a big commercial van)

If interested please contact me by pm.

dear greetings
triona

edit:
route changed, now by STENA line from Grenå, DK to Varberg, SE
out Grenå wed 11.09.19 - 01:00
in Varberg wed 11.09.19 - 06:15
out Varberg mon 16.09.19 - 19:45
in Grenå tue 17.09.19 - 00:05
This is the cheapest way to come to Sweden I could find. :)

It was so nice to meet up in person with a couple of the Forum members at Harpmeet: regular posters Triona and Edvin.

Edvin had brought along a chromatic in a very interesting original tuning of his, quite a different approach to most. We also talked over the reedplate-stacking idea and made plans for more testing.

Triona loved my Accordion-reed harps, and encouraged me to keep working on them. She also had a fascinating concept for a multi-mouthpiece flute-based instrument, which I'm going to help her make using 3d printed parts.

It was fun meeting up and spending time together. I hope to meet others of you in the future too!
