PowerChromatic vs. Diminished

Post by rlb » Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:54 am

Does anyone have any thoughts on the pros/cons of the diminished tuning compared to PowerChromatic?

As background: I've been playing PC Lucky 13 for a couple of years. I recently got a PC-tuned Seydel chromatic and I'm loving it.

So Brandon, I got a lot out of your Zoom seminar on July 25. At one point, you mentioned that the diminished tuning is similar to PC, and that you probably would have used diminished if you had known about it instead of inventing PC. That intrigued me so much that I got a diatonic diminished and started trying it out. Still deciding what I think about it.

And by the way, I posted this just before I saw the post about Diminished Lucky 13s. If I keep using this tuning, I'll probably get one of those; the extra 3 holes will be nice.

I think Diminished is excellent, as long as you know how to bend well.
