The paul Butterfield "raspyl"tone

Anything apart from the two mainstream default harmonicas (Solo-tuned fully-valved chromatic, and un-valved Richter 10-hole diatonic). Alternate tunings, different construction, new functionality, interesting old designs, wishful-thinking... whatever!

The paul Butterfield "raspyl"tone

Post by harpguy » Fri Oct 13, 2017 11:08 pm

wondering if someone has any ideas on how Butterfield gets that raspy sound when he plays. I have a small tube amp which definitely enhances my sound but I can't seem to get the "rasp. My amp only has a single base-treble control so perhaps the limits my ability to get that raspy distortion that Butterfield gets. I use a Shure 520DX high impedance mic.
Hoping that some one out there can enlighten me.
