BLUES-HARP CHORDAL VAMPING on a MIDI HARMONICA?

Anything apart from the two mainstream default harmonicas (Solo-tuned fully-valved chromatic, and un-valved Richter 10-hole diatonic). Alternate tunings, different construction, new functionality, interesting old designs, wishful-thinking... whatever!

BLUES-HARP CHORDAL VAMPING on a MIDI HARMONICA?

Post by Brendan » Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:57 am

I wondered if it was possible to emulate that funky chordal rhythm sound you can get on a Richter diatonic 10-hole harp in a Midi Harmonica. To test the idea, I tried a whole bunch of synth sounds using Polyphonic Mode in the Lekholm DM48 Midi Harmonica.

Using the same blues harp mouth techniques, I discovered that actually you CAN get very similar loud/soft breath dynamics, and great rhythmic 'bounce' - but now in a vast range of new sounds from inexpensive apps in the iPad. It's a whole lot of fun!
