I have wanted to play the jazz standard ‘Harlem Nocturne’ on a diatonic harp for a long time.
Unfortunately, the overblows are too difficult for me.
I once started to change a natural minor tuning.
That worked to a certain extent, but I'm missing too many notes. Bending notes are no problem for me, but unfortunately the overblows are.
Does anyone have any ideas about which tuning might work best for me?
I was thinking of a ‘PowerChromatic’ or ‘PowerBender’
So: All notes for ‘Harlem Nocturne’ (C minor + chromaticism)
The notes I need for the piece are (in C minor + typical chromaticism):
C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, Bb
This is (almost) the complete chromatic scale - i.e. 12 semitones.So I need an almost chromatic solution on a diatonic harmonica.
But I would also like to incorporate a few nice bendigs. So it should sound nice and blousy.
I was also thinking of a lower key.
I think the original is in F minor.
I'm curious to know if anyone has already dealt with this particular NUmmer.
